The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain knowledge and practical competences required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations. The qualification has been developed in association with and is supported by the Paediatric First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum. The paediatric first aid training course is recognised by Ofsted for Early Years (EYFS) and meets the requirements set out by Childcare Registration.

What to expect
The TQUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is usually delivered as a two-day programme of training and assessment for learners to allow them to be paediatric first aiders. The qualification has a recommended course duration of two days. The course duration may be increased to meet additional learning needs if required.
The qualification develops learners’ knowledge, understanding, and skills in:
- Roles and responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider
- Assessing an incident
- Unresponsive child
- Recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness
- Assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness
- Chest injuries
- Spinal injuries
- Anaphylaxis
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding.
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock.
